OUR HISTORY
The intersection of writing and visual arts has always been at the core of everything we do. Bridge Productions was founded in 2010 by Sharon Arnold as an online gallery which was launched from a tiny tabletop in their 250 square foot apartment, producing 4-6 curated box sets per year and corresponding popup events at Vermillion on Capitol Hill. The first curated box set was produced in 2011 and the last in 2016.
From 2012 to mid-2019, Bridge Productions was a brick and mortar space in the Georgetown neighborhood, where I and my collaborators expanded our scope beyond the traditional role of the white cube. While there, we focused on accessibility, interrogated the meaning and purpose of a gallery, and created a dynamic gathering place for a diverse array of programming. We featured everything from curated box sets, monthly exhibitions, publications, poetry readings, performances, and music to artist talks, panel discussions, informal/impromptu symposiums, safe space for protesters, and community-building as activism.
From mid-2019-2020, Bridge Productions continued to cover an international array of artists, writers, and curators working in a broad range of mediums from drawing, painting, and sculpture to installation, video, and performance; using images, short-form writing, essays, and criticism.
In 2021 and beyond, this space serves as an archive of our intersections of Seattle arts for the 10 years we were active. While we may have intermittent projects in the future, for now we're on hiatus but we hope this space serves a role as a meaningful slice of Seattle art history.
