CURATED BOX SETS
From 2011 to 2016, our curated box sets were a capsule collection of original works released four times a year, packaged in hand-made boxes by Seattle woodworker Steve Leroux. We viewed each wooden box as a complete exhibition-- a small 9 x 12 x 2 inch "gallery" which contained a thoughtfully curated selection of unique artworks by two different artists, and a literary project by a featured writer. Collectors were able purchase a box as a single item, or subscribe to an entire year's worth in advance! When we began, these sets were conceived of as a way to offer a welcoming approach for folks outside the arts--largely in tech sectors but also other communities not often considered in the arts community--to have an accessible path towards relationships with artists and original works with an approachable price point outside the intimidating environment of a white cube space. This legacy project was the origin of Bridge Productions as LxWxH, and quickly became a lead-in to our brick-and-mortar gallery space, public programming, and publications through 2018, and continues to be a valuable template for us today.
